Support disappointmentAs is unfortunately typical, ordering and paying for products is often much easier than using it after you have paid. We ordered another dedicated server from 1 and 1, but cannot use it yet. I gave up after half hour on hold yesterday listening to musak. Although much of that is now 80s tunes, now called oldies, I didn't want to spend my afternoon in the office. So, now on Monday morning I am waiting again. It isn't like I am just trying to get a stupid question answered like "what is a web server?" From the server is ready email: To gain full access, you must first contact our Support team on 1-877-435-7281 and request access. I addition, the password that was given does not work. These are not exactly minor details for using the new server. OK, they answered in about 10 minutes today. They took care of what I needed quickly, and the password was actually my problem instead of theirs. Have you ever been given a password that ended in a period? I am not an expert in password security, and we definitely want a secure system, but I have always considered a random sequence of mixed case letters and digits to be good enough for typical business purposes without adding punctuation marks. (done grumbling about this) The guy that took my call was knowledgeable and helped me quickly when I finally got through. You have to realize that when you pay for one of the least expensive servers available, you won't be getting instant, top-notch support. I am certainly not going to give up on 1 and 1, but this is not what you hope for with a new product or service. At least they have a phone system that gets answered if you are patient.
